I would love to do that with my M5.... but never would. That dust gets into everything.

Finally another E39 m5 owner.....Have you had an issue with the A/C fan as yet? I know turner motorsports have a replacement part, but I'm not sure that it works the same way....

There are a handful of us on here.

This one hates you: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/im-a-bmw-owner…

I bought my car about 4 months ago with 100K on it, so I knew I was getting into a car with a decent amount of maintenance due. Nothing with the AC fan yet. So far: clutch/flywheel (original one on the car was a good sign), fuel tank breather valve, all brakes and lines, rear view mirror repair (had the lava lamp).

Still need to fix: thermostat, leaking PS line, sticking door lock actuator.

what's the issue with the thermostat? You have the same k's as mine (160000km-100000 miles). only difference is I actaully owned my car four years ago, regretably sold it, and have now just bought it back. It started life as a press car for BMW, being used in local magazine shoots and comparo's, the very ones I read that made me fall in love with it in secondary school. It was also ralf shumacher's drive car when he was with BMW williams and the f1 show rolled into Melbourne. As a result of being beaten from the beginning of it's life, it goes like a cut cat, (wheels got a 0-100 of 4.8 seconds from my car, a feat they struggled to replicate with the v10) and it consumes no oil. Was the flywheel expensive? They are dual mass, and when I had the car originally, I swapped the clutch at 78,000km but didnt swap the flywheel. I'm planning to clutch swap at 180,000km, and do the flywheel as well. What year is yours? Mine was built Dec 01.

As for the leaking power steering lines, they all do it. They are very expensive to replace, and it won't be long until it does it again. if there are high performance or aftermarket versions available, get those.
